Last night saw the latest event at the AluK Design Studio exploring new and emerging technologies with the help of 3D printers iMakr and VR experts Discover Studios.
Starting with talks from both companies discussing the past, present and fascinating future or Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality upstairs, downstairs the iMakr team were talking attendees through the rapid pace of advancement in 3D printing.
From being able to 3D print glass and concrete to the growing availability of 3D printing in the mainstream due to falling printer and filament costs, 3D printing is becoming an invaluable tool for designers in all industries.
VR, AR and MR are also becoming increasingly common as design tools in a range of sectors thanks to its flexibility, allowing, for example, an architect to allow a client to ‘tour’ a house in a totally adaptable, fully interactive environment before selling.
After a Q&A session, it was time for everyone to try out the technology for themselves.
iMakr brought along 3D printing pens and allowed guests to unleash their creativity in three dimensions, while Discover Studios demonstrated a VR headset and the latest development in completely immersive, interactive worlds.
We’d like to thank both our guests and everyone who came along to the workshop and we look forward to seeing you again at the AluK Design Studio. Be sure to follow us on Twitter to hear about any upcoming events.
