Last night saw another successful #BIMOpenMic night at the AluK Design Studio, with a fantastic group of guests discussing the hot topics in BIM.
Founder of #BIMOpenMic night, Casey Rutland, opened the evening by discussing BIM certification (and swimming); Casey also launched a ‘design the logo’ competition ‒ perfect for an audience with a lot of architects!
We then heard from Rob Garvey, who asked the question ‘how efficient are we?’, touching on the 2025 Construction standards and Lean. Kath Fontana, Chair of the RICS FM board, also took to the stage to announce that ‘BIM is eating itself’ and that BIM is still overlooked in facilities management ‒ but also how important COBie and visualisation are to the FM sector.
Other speakers included Vaughan Harris, who gave a South African perspective on BIM and Liam from Nitty Gritty with his pop culture references.
Many attendees stayed at the Design Studio well beyond the ‘official’ part of the night to continue the BIM conversation ‒ the level of enthusiasm was encouraging to see.
Thanks to all those who attended! You can also view images of the night here.
